Come along to our Chap-book Printmaking Workshop this Stress Less period, which features a tour of the 'Crafted' exhibition at Auchmuty Library, the opportunity to view some of our rare book collection and attend a fun artisan printmaking workshop—all for free!
The exhibition features illustrations and artworks from our rare book collection featuring works by artists such as William Morris, who designed books with the aim of "producing {books} which would have a definite claim to beauty." And, in our Special Collections Reading Room, you'll get to interact with some of our rare books dating back to the late 1800s. We have selected several images from the rare books and exhibition that will be used in the artisan workshop, where you'll recreate images on an Ezy carve printing block which we will then use to print a set of gift cards and produce a small, unique artwork.
This workshop is suitable for beginners or experienced artists, with a selection of images and easy-to-use tools. Refreshments will be provided. Book early for this Library Stress Less activity as numbers will be limited. Aprons and gloves are available.
Note: by registering for this workshop, you agree that the Library will take ownership of any printing blocks carved, and you consent to these blocks being used for other purposes without credit or payment. Participants will be able to keep any cards and/or other artworks created in the session.
